It was from a deals site, out of all places. http://www.bensbargains.net/ktalk/1147963900,206,.shtml

The banding issue can be FIXED EASILY. It took me awhile to track down the solution, but if you download/run PowerStrip, you can solve the issue. In PowerStrip, in the advanced settings, change the Front Porch setting from 3 to 6. Then, all the banding on the leftside of the screen disappears. I was about to throw the monitor out until I figured this out.

#13, very interesting... what exactly is the front porch setting?

Front Porch is a slight adjustment to the vertical refresh rate. When you make that change, if my memory serves me correctly, will change the v-refresh about .1.

Go to "Display Profiles" in PowerStrip. Then select "Advanced Timings" and change FrontPorch to 6 in the Vertical Geometry area. Apply the changes and see the fix.
I found something interesting on a site, where a person posted the following:
"The banding issue can be FIXED EASILY. It took me awhile to track down the solution, but if you download/run PowerStrip, you can solve the issue. Can ANYONE try this and confirm??? I can't get to my monitor for a couple of days so I can't try it.
Hey guys, I'm new to the Dell forums, but I too am highly disappointed with the low quality of the 2007WFP. At work, we exclusively use Dell products, and their support has always been exceptional and in English! I have dual FP1905, which have pretty decent colors on them.
But my 2007WFP. Yuck. Lots of banding. And as a graphic artist, that's just not acceptable. I bought mine brand new off eBay, and don't know if that's gonna nip me in the end, but I eagerly look forward to the results of the tests, and appreciate Chris M's moderation as an intermediare.
I really hope it might come down to something where you can take your product to a local authorized service center for a fix. My faith in Dell's been taken down a peg (a big one), and how they handle this will either restore my faith or lead me to not buy or promote the products any further.
Well of course a proper hardware fix is the desirable option. But what if there is no fix? A workaround would then be better than staring at the problem.
I've known about that handy little app for a while. Back in the CRT age, I used to use it to bump the resolution down to 960 x 720 (4:3) because 800x600 was a big big and ugly and 1024 x 768 made it look too small. I had no idea whatsoever it'd do any good with CRT's, not with graphics drivers as good as they are now and able to get you the resolution you want, too.
Soon as I'm home, I'll give that a go. Pipnmike, if that works, you're a Dell forums hero :)
Zomg, because of the 22% off dell anniversary thing, this monitor is $350 USD. 350!! Someone had better find out if that fix listed is real, and they better do it fast. You know if dell fixes the problem, they will probably penalize us for their troubles by raising the price back up, so this is a steal > I need this fix to be legitamate, if it's not I'll cry. GET TO TESTING!!!

I don't know about you, but I'm not going to risk damaging a $400 investment that is not authorized by Dell because someone's eager to know if it's safe on their own. If you got the balls to tell others to try it, maybe you should do likewise and report back? :)
Its just a program that enables certain adjustments....worse case scenario you reset things the way they were

Also Banding is only the most obvious symptom. Blur and Pixel jitter are other that are less obvious but of equal concern to me.
I would much rather have them build properly working monitors than come out with work arounds.
