Ok, so I have a delema. I have a coupon for $35 off Dell products. I want to use it in tandem with the 22% off sale. Which makes the 2007wfp $347 after tax. I can get the Viewsonic Vx2025wm for $345 from newegg.com. I really like the Dell as it is adjustable and has useful extra's, but i'm worried about getting a bad monitor and them not issuing a fix before the 21 day return runs out. Any suggestions?
I bought a 2007wfp on May 11, and it has severe banding (and flickering), too, which makes it unuseable for my needs. I am in the return process now for full refund back. However, I would like to re-purchase this model when the fix has been implemented. I would like to find out if I can receive a courtesy discount after the monitor line is updated and fixed, when I re-purchase?

I for one have to put up with it... already spent way too much time not to go through.
It really is a superb monitor, though; if you're not a graphics designer or gamer or just not picky in general, then this monitor is still the best out there.
I personally would not have bought is had I seen the effects firsthand, but it was only after my order shipped that I found out about it (I was one of the first unlucky ones).
If I didn't do what I do, though, and if I weren't picky about how I spent my money, then I would definitely jump on this deal even with the banding - I'd just get is replaced till I got something satisfactory, that's all.
Nothing comes close to its features in this price range. That's pretty much the same with all of Dell's '07 lineup.
If any of you are not against behemoths, the 240x is one heck of a monitor. I don't like the size of it though, nor the resolution (would need to SLI to get games to play natively, and I hate spending money on things that are outdated in a few months).
I just found out that my father (his credit card, he handles the screaming at sales people) didn't get a refund for MY money like I asked for (his credit card, but I payed him..you know how it goes), instead he got another replacement..that I will have to miraculously be home to recieve even though I have things to do. This never ends.. Dell should be bludgeoned for putting us all through this grief over and over and over again. Uggggg, maybe I'll get lucky this time but... yeah right.
If anyone else gets into this situation..just cancel, but make sure you don't let your father get on the line and get sweet talked into another replacement ("How do you know it will be messed up again"? )
Someone said they could get this thing for 320? Is that through a coupon? If so, could you share that coupon with us? Not that it matters for me atleast now.. ;_:
I change my mind, I can't do it. I'm going off to college and I have no job, 350 dollars is just too much to spend on something that I know is flawed, and that I know there is no fix for (Yet).
ChrisM, you should get together with the sales department, and get us an extension on the 22% off sale. They could do it through a coupon only distributed to forumn users or something, but fixing it and then raising the price is just not right. I refuse to buy something, with all knowledge that it's flawed and that there is nothing I can do about it but wait. Dell should NOT be selling these monitors still! The problem is obvious, it's widespread, and yet dell is STILL selling these things by the truckload.
I for one am going to wait untill it's fixed. If I have to call a sales rep, and then speak to his manager to get my 22% off, then that is what I will do. I bought this monitor when it was on sale, returned it because it was defective while it was on sale, and darn it if it gets fixed I am going to recieve this thing for the same price. But I am NOT giving them 350 of my hard earned money (Could buy a Nintendo Wii and a DS for that, not that I want either, just saying how much this is).
Maybe you older, salaried workers will put up with this, but I'm done.
Fix it and then offer it for the discounted price, or lose my business, simple as that.
I should also mention, he didn't say they HAD a fix, he said they were LOOKING for a fix, so don't be fooled.
Actually he said they had a fix. What they are currently working out is how to implement the fix on screens that have already been sold and delivered.
I'd say it is, I re-read it and they said they were figuring out how best to get the fix to the customers. Unfortunatly they also said that the firmware flashing would have to be done at the factory or a hub. The factory, is in..China/Mexico? I believe? So that means that if we get this now (I have no choice) that we will atleast have to ship it one place for repairs. Or get a replacement with the fixed firmware. I'd say buy at this point, but I am so tired..my resolve has been washed away
OMG, Sale ended on us but i was lucky and got my order going just as it happen. Well not for sure it ended but when i hit refresh on the monitor page it was gone and now the page is offline.
As soon as Chris replied saying that Dell had a firmware fix, I decided to give them a shot. I had a $35 off coupon already, but the online system kept billing me $10 too much for shipping (only gave me $9.95 off instead of $19.95). I called in, ordered the monitor, and the rep told me it would not ship until 5-30-06. He claimed it was due to a fix that they were implementing (I had made a brief mention of the problems I had read about when inquiring about the return policy). I don't know if he was being truthful or not, but that's what they told me.
THe only problem was that he used my incorrect billing address, but a nice online chat with an indian gentleman fixed all that. I guess I just need to wait until sometime between June 2 and June 5 to see if they really fixed it.
Hi, yeah I ordered recently too, and the online thing charged me 9.50 for it, but i went ahead and ordered anyways, and then did a dell chat and got it upgraded to free next day shipping (only got it on tuesday though because i ordered it on satarday). Also i do notice the banding, though its not as bad as most of the screenshots people have posted(i'm using DVI btw). Hopefully i'll still be within the 21 days when the fix is issued, and i'll get a new one(i already requested a replacement as the one i got has a dead pixel (i can't stand dead pixels)) instead of a refurbished one. Could anyone tell me when the 21 day cut-off starts? (By that i mean is it 21 days from the order, shipping, or recived date?).
I found out that to get the 320 dollar price, you have to BUY a coupon code through ebay for 35 dollars off 300. What a rip, but this is what people will do to make a buck on ebay these days.
I didn't do much else than run the gradient tests when I got my monitor before I shipped it back. I'm going to be watching alot of 4:3 encoded stuff on it (Namely, cable television aswell as playing Playstation 2 games, and Xbox 360 when a DVI cable gets released) and I am really fearing the flicker. I realize there are 21 days of grace time where I can ship it back at no cost to me, with no questions asked, but I am really fearing how darker 4:3 anime's like Ghost in the Shell, and movies such as the Matrix are going to look on this monitor. I know the scaling is good, so I wonder if I can take a 4:3 and turn it into the 16:10 without it being hideous. We shall see I guess. (Gotta do something with the monitor for 20 days before it's the deadline to return it)
