To answer one of the replies ( bob_c_b), wanting to know if I had a 2007 monitor or just mouthing off. No I don't have one, and do not need one to post the facts, which are"

Okay, just wanted to clearly establish you are trolling, thanks for the confirmation.

What I was doing is not called trolling bob, if you had a bit of common sense.  Most of use that wish to assist others do not have the same systems or monitors, and have good advice to give from past experiences with Dell, and that is what I was doing, and is what we do here if you have not noticed this on the forum.    Telling members that they are trollers if they do not have the same monitor is silly.  We give advise all day long to those that need help and many do not have the same systems or monitors, so are they all trollers bob  ?  .  Buying, keeping a defective monitor beyond the 21 days if foolish in my opinion ( Opinion ), not knowing if it really will be fixed or not.  You can always wait for another promotion, if you bothered to pay attention to the dell weekly promotion, and coupons that are advertised.   That is my advise, and some take and some do not.

Anyone who thinks that just because its a firmware upgrade, it means we can download something is mistaken.  You can't transfer data like that through a monitor cord.  I think chances are good the firmware is on a chip inside the device and you will either have to send it back to them so they can flash it or take it to some service center.

I'd be nice if they could send  us all some sort of dongle flash device so we could do it ourselves, but I think that would not be very cost effective.

I got mine last night and using it on VGA I don't have flicker.  I don't have a desktop right now to test DVI but I have no doubt the banding will be there, so I'm not even going to bother less make myself ticked off.  21days to wait for a fix or this baby goes back for a replacement.

Here we go.

I'm NOT returning mine. I'm going to just wait till the fix comes out and just get it repaired. I paid $170 for it when i bought my XPS 600. I don't want to give it up

Just received my refund, minus shipping charges. Btw, noticed that the 2007 range is getting a big price cut for a limited time, ard US$100 worth here in Singapore as well. :)

I seriously doubt that the fix could go through usb, the usb port only shares some power electronics AFAICT.

If flashing the thing from home were at all possible I would say the DVI connector would only be slightly more likely, it is a digital connection and some monitors have tuning utilities that run through DVI.

the 2407wfp fix that I am waiting for in Australia doesn't just involve flashing the firmware either, it is new firmware and new PANEL. Current panel model is LTM240M2 replacement will much likely be LTM240ML2.

Can't wait for the replacement, hopefully the slightly cropped HD Component Video will also be fixed (96 pixels missing on the left and right, 56 missing on the top and bottom).

You won't be able to flash your monitor's firmware - at least not without voiding your warranty and the necessary equipment.
It is more likely that people who have reported the banding problem will be contacted by Dell sometime over the next few weeks to organise a replacement monitor - one that has the new firmware pre-flashed from the factory (and what ever else may have been done).
At least that is what appears to be the plan here in Australia - Dell support informed me that once the fix is ready they will be contacting me - sometime in the next couple of weeks (no date was given).

But what if it's a defective piece of hardware as in there is a physical problem with it and they need to open the monitor?  Then it would have to be shipped back

My suggestion would be, for those whose deadline to return is today call dell and ask for a RAN.  You can wait and not sending the monitor till Friday or Sat once we hear back from Chris-M.  If we have good news from Chris-M, then you can call Dell back and cancel the return. Otherwise, you send the monitor in on Saturday. Hopefully Chris-M will be prompt as he has been with the response.

Chris-M, can you comment on this?

P.S I called in for a RAN on the 2001FP on the exact 21day from invoice to get this 2007WFP and I did not have time to send the monitor in till 3 days later.  It was not a problem!

The fix may got through the USB input.

David,

I'm not sure that is anymore useful than downloading it off the computer. The monitor's usb hub is just a connector to the main tower. I'm not sure it has any direct access to the monitor electronics that the tower usb doesn't have.

However, that being said, it is certainly a possibility that the fix may be downloadable. I wouldn't hold your breath though

Hey all, I just checked on my order status, and yesterday it had said it will ship on May 30th. Now when I log in and go to order status, and click on "In Production" it takes me to the production details, and it now says that it won't ship till June 05 - June 07. I wonder if they are holding these back to install the fix? I will continue to check on the production process and let everyone know what dates it states.

And date of invoice is equal to ship date right?  If I order one now, I wont be invoiced today?  Dont want to run into a situation where if they are holding production for a fix, that I lose 10-15 days of my 21 during production and shipping.
