Have you installed the most recent firmware for your router?

http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WGT624v2.asp

You will need to reset and restore the default settings on the router after the update.

I periodically do an update check from the Netgear Settings page and it states there is no new version. The web site states the latest version is 4.2.11 and this was installed last year. I have used the wireless router since that upgrade.

Although how does one tell what version is installed? I have trusted the Settings page as there seems to be no logical place to go.

I had previously noticed that the wireless router failed if there was a new firmware version available so that is why I do the regular checks.

Access the router's web-based configuration utility and go to the Router Status page. You should find the current firmware version, there.

Are you running any third party software firewalls on the your laptop?(Norton Internet Security, Trend Micro, McAfee, Zone Alarm, etc.)

Sometimes my level of frustration overtakes my perseverence which amazes even me!

The information is under Maintenance - Router Settings and is as follows:

Account Name WGT624
Hardware Version V3
Firmware Version V4.2.10_1.0.1

Not sure why it says V3 when I have V2. Netgear web site states latest Firmware is 4.2.11. Turned off Kerio PF, Norton and Windows Security Centre. Still no automatic download so have done it manually.

Rebooted router but still no wireless connection. Your help is appreciated - what is the next suggestion?

Check details? If your router status page says firmware version 4.2.10_1.0.1 then, you don't have the most current firmware version installed, which would be version 4.2.11.

Also, check the label on the bottom of your router? Does it say WGT624v2? or v3?

Router states WGT624 v2. Firmware version is now V4.2.11_1.0.1. Have rebooted all equipment (including the rabbit)and restarted all in "correct" sequence.

And just in case your thoughts dwell on the rabbit - she is not allowed into the study - in fact been kept outside for some weeks now!

You said in an earlier post that you've uninstalled and reinstalled all the hardware, does that mean that you've already downloaded and installed the latest driver files for your WLAN PCI card?
