I noticed a few possible issues in the pics you posted: First is that your ap is on ch.6, but your card appears to be set to ch.11. Also, your connection is not an ad hoc network, but the checkbox is checked. (Sorry if I am mistaken, but I can only read english)

Hi Greg,

I tried on ad hoc network and the 8054 SSID network still with the same results.

Channel 6 is from an older screenshot. Even if they're both on 11 or 6, it remains the same.

What I notice is that the laptop does not receive an ip address , so there is no transfer protocol (?).

Connection is ok, signal strength is ok, but transfer of data seems impossible. I think more and more that the problem is with the acces point.

I had an laptop of a friend with a Belkin card and it was also impossible to get a working connection with the US Robotics acces point.

Regards,

Philippe

Try shutting down your computer first, then unplug your modem from the electrical outlet, then your router. Wait 30 sec. Then:

1) Plug in your modem *first*, wait 30-45 seconds

2) Plug in your router, wait another 30 seconds

3) Power up your computer and see if you can connect.

Also what kind of connection (cable, dsl) modem do you have, what security setting do you have or want to run (WEP, WPA or WPA2). Setting up a WPA2 security is a bit more tricky than WEP.

Hi,

I have a cable modem and I use WEP.

Without any problem I can connect with a Dell Latitude D810, after introducing the WEP Key.

The Dell Inspiron 1300 just does not want to connect. So I do not think it is a cable or router problem but more of a problem with the Dell Inspiron modem.

Best regards,

Philippe

Philippe, try clearing (removing) your networks in your wireless utility and let it reconnect to your network again from scratch. Sometimes that helps. You'll have to type in your WEP key again when the window comes up asking for it.

That also does not work. What I will try now is to disable the Dell Wireless modem and install a US Robotics USB Wireless modem. I hope this will work.

I think the Dell modem is not compatible with my US Robotics Acces Point.

Philippe

OK, problem solved.

I performed a winsock repair and now it is working.

Thx for your support.

Phil, I wanted to ask: what is a "winsock" repair?
