Inspiron 6000 (UXGA) - Display Not Filling Up Entire Screen

Question

Hi everyone, Like the subject says, the display is not filling up the entire screen. It doesn't seem to be a resolution issue or the 'black border' problem many have posted about. My display looks warped at the corners and edges, leaving behind horizontal gaps between the display frame and what is being displayed. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can do? Right now, there is about 6mm of black border on the top of the screen and a slight elliptical curve to the bottom of the screen. The laptop has never been dropped/damaged/bumped into any surface. Sure, I will do that. I was just hoping that there was something really simple such as opening up the display case and just shifting something around. =)

Have you got it set at full screen in the Intel display settings ? Display Properties - Settings - Advanced - Intel(R) Graphics Media - Graphics Properties - Display Settings - 1280 x 800 - Full Screen. If set at a lower resolution with 'Maintain Aspect Ratio' it will give you the horizontal bands top and bottom.
