Either online vendor or at a computer store nearby......Check www.newegg.com or www.zipzoomfly.com for two online vendors to see if they have some longer cables or take a drive to CompUSA, or Best Buy if you have them in your area.  You are talking about the Upstream USB cable are you not  ?  If the Upstream cable is not the one you are looking for, than they have other USB to USB cables available.....

Hi SR45:

Thanks for you response to my problem! Your message says that this an upstream cable but the monitor diagram indicates that Ithese are downstream USB ports. Is there any difference?

Thanks!

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/r83546/EN/setup.htm#Connecting%20Your%20Monitor  Part what it actually says on this link shown below.  Go to most any computer store and they should have the upstream cable shown in the link in my other reply or purchase one from the online vendor

"  Connect the USB cable that was included with your monitor to the computer and the upstream USB connector on the monitor. Once this cable is connected to the computer and the monitor, you can use the USB connectors on the monitor ".

Your monitor should have come with the upstream cable as it did with mine.  Look around the box to see if you missed it....

RS45:

Thanks for taking the time and effort to give me some directions in setting up my monitor. The diagramatical sketches on the link are very useful. My monitor did not come with the required cable so I guess I'll just have to purchase one. Thanks again for all your help --- I really appreciate it!

You might be able to call Dell tech support, and tell them that the included upstream USB cable was not included  :smileyvery-happy:   They should send you one, free.  However, talking to tech support on this will be like hitting your head on the wall.  Or just purchase one.  Good luck
