I can't help you except to say I am having exactly the same problem.  E151FPb Monitor, Green light flashes, blank monitor screen, seems to be trying to restart over and over.

Mine started acting up about the same time as yours (late march to early april 2006) after several years of troublefree operation.  I have found that if you unplug the monitor it will sometimes reset itself.  Sometimes the reset happens if you unplug it for a few seconds, other times you have to leave it unplugged for a much longer time.  And sometimes it seems that unplugging it doesn't do any good at all.  On several occasions I have unplugged everything - computer and monitor - and it still won't reset the problem.

I can't find anything in the documentation that says what a flashing green light means.

Have you found a solution?

no i havent. what sometimes masks the problem is i like squeeze my monitor or hit it. then the DELL logo appears and it works.  however i want to find a permanant solution.  it was so sudden i wonder if dell can warranty this or something.  i really dont want to buy a new monitor.  its so weird how one day it just starts acting up.

I am having the exact same issue and it started slowly a few months ago. Now it occurs regularly and seems to occur after I have had the PC up and running for awhile. I have been troubleshooting this issue for several weeks.  However my monitor is an E773C.

Here is what I have done that has NOT fixed it though.  Updated XP, and updated the video card driver (NV1Dia Geforce Fx 5200). What video card to you have?

I have opened the PC, cleaned, and reseated all the boards.  I have tested the monitor as well with it's self test with no problems.  I have updated and ran antivirus, spyware and adware software (I also keep this up to date anyway).  I have done all the standard maintenance such as scandisk, etc.

It seems to get worse the longer I am on the PC during the day (is this what is occuring with you?), so it may have something to do with heat.  However I have moved the PC as well so the fan is out totally in the open and it still occurs.

I have had the desktop for a couple years and it has been problem free too.

It is getting so bad now that even turning the screen on and off doesn't fix it (once it starts).  But if I shut down, leave it alone for awhile and then turn it back on it works for awhile.  Then the nightmare starts again.

Today I am going to borrow a friends monitor, try it for awhile to see if it is the video card or the monitor itself.  I'll post once I see what occurs.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?  I don't want to replace the monitor and video card and it be something else.

UGH.

it doesnt seem to get worse the longer it goes on.  its pretty random.  the only fix that i found was squeezing the moniter until it regained picture.  it fixes it everytime.  but the fix is only temporary.  sometimes when i start the computer the moniter will start flickering right off the bat.  What can Dell do for us to help us with this problem thats so odd.

Mine does not seem to get worse with time and it does not seem to get worse as it heats up.  It seems to act up whenever it wants to.

We generally leave the computer on all the time and it seems to act up more overnight than during the day when it is being used.

I did change the power down settings and that seems to have helped.

When this problem first occured it was after we had changed our screen saver options.  I tried changing back to the old settings (as best as I could remember) but that didn't seem to help.  So I changed the power down settings to never shut down the monitor.  Since I did that it works much better.  I have not experienced the problem but the other computer user in the house believes it happened one time.

That would be a big improvement, only once in a week.

Try changing the power off settings and see if that helps.

i just turned off the power down settings so its on the whole time.  have yet to see whats going to happen.

for now all i got is my temp fix when it doesn ahppen.

we shud start thinking of ways we can get dell or something to give us replacement monitors since these were clearly random incidents where user error could not have done this since we all had a few years of flawless results.

I forgot to mention in my first post that I had also turned off all Power off/sleeper settings and that didn't help either.  THANKS FOR RESPONDING THOUGH.

Dell any ideas here?
