Were either of the desktops connected to the router wirelessly? What operating systems are you running on your computers? What model Linksys router do you have?
Did you run the Network Setup Wizard on the laptop? Do you have any third party software enabled on the laptop?( Norton Internet Security, McAfee, Trend Micro, Zone Alarm, etc.)
There is a setting in the router's web-based utility whereby you enable the router to recognize your laptop's MAC address. Did you perform this step after connecting your laptop to your network?
