I am not sure about that, but you can purchase a replacement screen and install it yourself.

just leave it as is. you can configure the power settings on the laptop to "do nothing when lid is closed" and use a external monitor. good luck

I understand that, but if I remove the whole lid, with the LCD, will I be able to use the base as a desktop?
