Assuming you mean C810, rather than "810c", go here:

Select "Appplications" - "Dell Access Direct" for that worthless Support button feature.  "Communications Drivers" will get you to the modem stuff, but you'll have to know which specific device you have installed.  You may also find that Windows XP has native support (translation: You don't have to install separate drivers) for the modem and NIC, if present.

Thanks Floopy.

I thought it was a hotkey or something for Internet Explorer or programmable to start up some app. Is there a way to use it for that purpose?

Also, regarding the driver. How does WInXP know about the special Fn key if I don't have a special driver for the keyboard? I mean normal desktop keyboards don't have the Fn keys, so if I just installed the normal 101 keyboard driver I would lose all my volume controls and other stuff assigned to the Fn.

All I can tell you is that I never install any of that keyboard (or touch pad) software, and everything (including the Fn key) works fine for me on all of my Lats - volume controls, screen size, you name it, they work.  Worked the same way with Windows 98 and Win2k, too.

Mmmm ahhh eeeek....

I did it, I installed XP and much to my delight it went perfect, all drivers supplied by XP make everything work fine, including the keyboard. Whew.... I was very nervous.

One small thing. On the Win2000 installation the Monitor was listed as a c810 in device manager, but in XP only the "default" monitor is installed. I can't find a driver anywhere for the c810 monitor, even on Dell's c810 downloads page.  I think it's important, because it will actually adjust properly using different resolutions etc. I.E. I want to make sure it plays nice with the adapter. (the adapter did install properly as the GeForce2 Go.

Also, something more important to me is the battery indicator in the system tray is gone now. In the Win2000 install there was a little icon that showed the battery consumption/charge info. Do you know how to get that back? Is it a Dell Utility? If so where can I get it.

Thanks in advance, I appreciate your answering my posts, especially since it looks like no others have bothered. Good Samaritan!

Nix that last thing about the battery indicator in the system tray. It showed up when I unplugged the AC cord and was working just on the battery. Duh...well I'm a newbie, I didn't know these things.

Still wondering about the Monitor driver though.

Also, is there anyway to code that dumb i button to do something useful, like open up my browser or email etc?

Monitor drivers are only required if you're using an external monitor (CRT, etc.).  As long as you've installed the display adapter (aka video) drivers for your particular adapter correctly, you'll have whatever controls are available for same.  In most instances, the native XP drivers won't give you all the control options that the item specific drivers from Dell do, but the up side of this is that you won't have another essentially useless application running at Startup.
