Attach an external monitor. If it shows up there, it could be a driver or video card issue.

If it doesn't, it's a display panel fault. Single-line faults usually signify the need to replace the panel - they generally cannot be repaired.

Hi, thanks for your reply. It doesnt show up on a different monitor.

Do you think i need a new panel? are they expensive? could i fit it?

Hi symbol9200 this may useful if your pc is less than 2 years old. I have the same problem. I also am 1 month out of warranty and they (Dell) wanted me to pay some ridiculous amount of money for an extended warranty (~$800 - which I refused)!! I have a 2 year parts only warranty so I told them to send me a new LCD screen and I'll install it myself. They contacted me and said they were sending a new lcd screen the next day (yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
