My card is getting old, but does support 2048x1536 32bit @75Hz. I have my 2007 set to 75 mhz, but it doesn't change the available resolutions if I leave it at 60. Like I said, I can go a lot higher than 1600x1024 on my Trinitron with this card.
Yes, I've seen the firmware talk and it looks like color banding is the issue there. Is it supposed to fix anything else?
When I did the initial setup, I chose "I have access to the Internet..." I took your advice and went through the setup again, this time choosing "I do not have Internet access," forcing an install off the CD.
OMFG. It is like there was a layer of dirty plastic over the monitor that has now been removed. Fonts are so sharp they could cut diamonds. The color is beautiful and there is not a hint of either banding or ghosting. Absolutely amazing. And I now have 1600 x 1050 (@60 hertz) which is a cozy fit.
I ordered the monitor on 5/19 and it shipped on 5/20.
Interesting question about the revision. The sticker on the back of the monitor says A00, but in the Monitor Control Panel (WinXP) it says A018.
I've purposely looked at hundreds of images with gradients that would cause banding - sunsets, water, sky, etc, and the display is amazing. There is no banding at all. The only negative thing I’ve been able to see is some “tiling” along the edges of a window if I drag it across the screen too fast.
Dell must have worked out something with nVidia for this monitor because the driver on the CD is much newer than anything I could find on the web from either Dell (I have a Dimension), nVidia or the card maker. I also have a number of new tools in my nVidia Settings thingy.
I’ve seen all the flash update talk on these boards and am keeping the shipping box just in case I need to send it back, but right now it would be hard to pry this away from me. The auto adjust feature is really good too, as it tweaks the monitor settings based on the application (game) I’m using.
At this point I'm pretty skeptical. I don't think that Dell has shipped any of the monitors with the new firmware yet, it's just been too soon. Also, ChrisM said that they wouldn't be shipping any monitors with the new firmware during the current sale. So, sorry to doubt you, but we'll see when I get my monitor tomorrow (Oh nuts..tomorrow is memorial day..do they ship on memorial day? Arrghhhhh)
Senater - The CD updated my nVidia Desktop Manager Software and also updated my graphics driver from
6.14.10.4523 to
6.14.10.6693
The monitor was made in China.
LCDPhreak – Not sure if it has the new firmware or not. This monitor has been out for a while and I bought it based on a number of reviews and monitor “showdowns” I read about. Everything I read was positive. So a number of people out there over the last year or so have managed to get good performance out of it.
I didn’t see anything negative written about it until I tried setting it up and had problems myself. There are obviously a lot of folks on this board who are not happy. Not sure if my firmware is different than anyone else’s here...maybe it was a bad batch and I got lucky? All I can tell you is it looked horrible out of the box and looks amazing now with the new(er) driver on the Dell CD for my relatively old card.
Sounds a bit funny, the standard res is 1680x1050 not 1600x1050, Baz is that what you meant...?
I have a GeForce Fx 5600 256mb card and my tinitron before this screen worked at just about anything, gaming/photshop etc..
I have the latest Beta Nvidia driver 91.33 and it still won't run at the recommended resolution on a DVI lead just the analogue lead...
Mine was made in China and shipped july 19th with REV A02 written on the box...
This was my first and last deal with Dell, you cannot ever speak to anyone unless you spend 20 minutes on the phone, my screen is colour profiled to very very accurate colours for my work and my screen has no banding but it is whiter on left more than the right...
I am less than impressed, trying to get the monitor replaced was a nightmare, it never happened, funny how the first one arrived pronto, but the repalcement, using a totally different carrier, never came during the day..!!!!
So the crux of this, is that we all have the 'wonder 2007w' that doesn't do what it says it does...
Ordering colour critical photo's online is now a nightmare, after high end professional colour matching to ensure what you see is what you get, my prints arrive way off...
Anybody else tried to profile one of these monitors...?

Or are you reffering to the Dell monitro Driver?
It could be that you have the first of the new fixed screen and if so, according to your genuinity, the fix works.
is your screen made in China or Mexico?

How would we know if the new firmware fix has been installed? What do we look for?
Thank you,
Jeff
