Battery problem with Inspiron 8600

Question

My battery's power level drops suddenly from 40-45% to 5-7%. I have not ben able to figure out why. I have let the battery drain to 4-5% and then recharged, to take care of so called 'memory' problem, Any ideas?

Sounds like the battery is almost shot. This is how they will act when they can't take a full charge.

Given that the system is at least 18+ months old, the battery is on its way out - they last about 18-24 months or 300-500 charge cycles, whichever comes first; time to replace the battery.
