Inspiron 1150 - AC Adaptor Not Recognized

Question

My pc continues to give me an error that says that the AC Adaptor cannot be recognized even though I have the adaptor plugged in.  I had my ac adaptor replaced but I realized that this is did not solve the problem.  Based on the other posts on the board I realized that I need to have my motherboard replaced, and I'm very upset considering that I didn't have this pc for 18months as yet. Is this a major problem for the Inspiron 1150 users or did I just happen to be one of the unfortunate recipients of a poorly manufactured laptop.  Needless to say I feel that the quality of Dell PC's are gradually diminishing and something should be done if they want to retain satisfied customers.

may be worth trying to update you bios to the latest available to see if it cures this behaviour.

Have that model, had that problem. Update bios solved problem.

Also, get into system setup and see what the updated bios is reporting on you AC adapter. It should report the same wattage as is printed on the adapter.

That happened to me as well, but updating it did no good.  My motherboard was shot.  I had to get it replaced after only having my laptop 24 months, nearly to the date.  Then 6 weeks later, my adaptor stopped detecting electrical current.  Coincidence or just purely unlucky to have it worn out already?
