You said you downloaded the latest driver. Did the driver actually load onto the device?

Generally, when the device manager cannot identify a device or start it, it is because the device needs the drivers to properly identify itself to the device manager.

If the drivers don't automatically load, you may have to manually install them.

The Proset utility is not important. The device drivers are. Since the drivers won't automatically load, try loading them manually.

First, make sure the device is seated correctly. Then reboot. It the device is still not recognized:

Go to the device manager. Right click the device and select update driver.

I don't know precisely off hand the next procedures, but at some point you should be able to point to the folder where the Proset software installed and select the drivers for installation.

(Good luck with the Intel2915abg. I have one I don't use because it doesn't work well.)

Yes the driver is loaded and the Intel Proset Wireless utility shows up in my applications and is automatically loaded into my applications tray.

But the utlity says "No supported wireless adapters available in the system".

Thanks Jerry for replying!

When I launch the utility it gives me the message:

Intel PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. Please install a supported adapter.

I rechecked and the adapter is plugged in.
