I have the same problem... I ahev a Insprion 600m. I had formatted my hard disk and now nothing shows up in Network Connections. Under Device Manager there is a yellow question mark next to Ethernet Controller, etc... Following suggestions from this post I downloaded the Chipset (Intel Mobile Chipset) and reinstalled my network drivers (broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller), but still nothings showing up in Network Connection and it still says no drivers have been installed and I cannot access the Internet... could there be any other problem?

Did you manually reinstall the driver?  Try using the Update Driver feature and point to the folder where the driver ini file is located.  If that still does not work, then you probably have the wrong driver.

Yes, I have tried reinstalling the drivers. It still doesn't work. How will I know which is the correct driver to use? When I go to Update Driver, there is a list of drivers under network adapter, but none of them work.

I knew it had to be the wronf driver.  Glad to hear you got it sorted out.  A tip would be to know burn those files to a CD and store a copy.

It would have been more polite to start your own thread but since we're here, ........what is the model of your machine?

i do not have the chipset. What is that anyways?
is there any way to obtain it and how can i fix this problem manually?
Also i do not have anything that my inspiron 700m came with

I  went to device manager, and under 'other devices', the following have a yellow question mark next to them:

Ethernet Controller
Mass storage controller
Multimedia Audio controller
Network controler
PCI Modem
Video controller
Video controller (vga compatible)

how can i fix this?
