I ordered my 2007WFP on 5/06/2006 (I'm Aussie so that's Monday 5th June). Haven't got it yet, but I'm expecting A00 and not A02 (even after telling the salesman about must be A01).

Read more of the posts. Basically the fixed ones will not be shipped out as new/regular sales until a week or two (according to some posts).
That said, there are people who have received fixed ones but I believe they also made special requests and then it comes down to the salesman you get.

Well great. I had no idea this was even an issue at the time of ordering. I didn't read the reviews like I normally would've because my roommate has the model before the 2007 (2005 I believe?) and I absolutely love it.

I'm going to be very upset if I have this issue with this monitor. I think it's bad business for it to even be an option for sale if there are obvious known-issues. Especially as expensive as this thing was.

Well, my system was shipped to courier yesterday so I guess we'll find out soon enough...

Alright I have a new question. I did a little more research as to why this monitor is even available if there are known issues and what I found is that there is two different part numbers.

On the website I found this model "20 in Dell 2007FPW Ultrasharp™ Flat Panel Monitor Wide" part number 320-4688 and under estimated ship date it says "unavailable"

Where as I checked my invoice this is the model that is being shipped "20 inch UltraSharpTM 2007FPW Widescreen Digital Flat Panel 2007WFP" with a part number of 320-4706

I can't seem to find anything about the second monitor (the one that shipped). If I do a search for the 320-4688 part number I find the unavailable monitor but if I search for the 320-4706 (the one that shipped) nothing comes up. What's the difference?

I've been reading about the issues with this monitor and I've read that there is a fix out there now requiring you to send the monitor back to Dell. My question is will the problem be taken care of in my new monitor or am I just going to have to send it right back?

Remember, Dell's replacement policy means that even if you do get a monitor that hasn't been fixed, you're safe. You won't have to "send it right back" - just request a replacement via PM ChrisM here, and continue using the one you got until the replacement arrives.

Seriously, what's the big deal? What are you using this monitor for? For many users, the problem won't even be noticeable, but if you do get a monitor that hasn't been fixed, and it's a problem for you, simply request a replacement. You'll never be without a monitor, because you won't have to return yours until the replacement arrives. In the meantime you can seriously reduce the amount of banding by using an analog connection instead of DVI connection, until the replacement monitor arrives (on one of my monitors, I get no banding what-so-ever when using an analog connection - on the other, very minimal - both exhibit significant banding over a DVI connection).

These are great monitors in every respect except for the banding problem, and Dell have thankfully done the right thing in dealing with that. You made a good choice. Relax!

Yes I agree. You never lose use of your current monitor. Sure it's not perfect but at least it's now a known issue, and this method of registering fixes/returns is no real time wasted like you get dealing with tech support to get the same result.

I'm not saying it's no excuse to not get it right the first time but eh well...we are here.
