Inspiron 1000 bios update, I want to revert can I?

Question

I have a Inspiron 1000 and updated the bios to A08 yesterday from A05. Is there any way I can go back to the A05, is so where can I find it? I was having a problem with my DVD player skipping, pausing, and jerking while playing movies. I was in another forum and one of the suggestions was to flash the bios, did that. Now my computer takes several minutes to load at startup or reboot. My background will pop up then about a minute latter my icons will appear. It has to be the bios that caused this, to strange to have happened at the same time. BTW the DVD is still messed up WinXP Home Thanks

earliest version I can find on the dell site including ftp is A07.

You can revert no problem. I have A02, A06, A07 and A08 for you if you wish. But I don't thik that your original problems were because of the BIOS - I can bet that they weren't. Most likely your DVD drive or the DVD disk itself was a problem only. In any case I would run a bunch of diagnostics on the Hard Drive and RAM to ensure they are working correctly. Maybe reinstalling original software would be a good idea as well, but backup of your existing hard drive image in case this is not your problem so you can easily revert this too.
