2407 replacement + deposit?

Question

It has been about ~ 9 days I sent my request to ChrisM and I noticed today under my account that there was a replacement order placed with deposit charged(??)  It currently shows the order is in production and will ship around 6/26.  But isn't there a new fix or batches available on July 5th?   Anyone have similar situation where deposit has been charged and order in place?   I suggest any who PM ChrisM to check MyAccount section for new order! :smileywink:

The july 5th date is for when it will be safe to buy a new 2007 with the A02 revision. People who are exchanging monitors can receive them before that date. My account says that it is an exchange not a deposit charged or whatever. Is that what the payment method is?

Alos, my exchange is for 2407.. not 2007.  Are both 2007 and 2407 coming out with new batch on 5th of July?

Payment method is 'EXCHANGES' but I see the total amount is not $0.00 but rather unit price of $318.74.  That's where it got me confused.   Now the estimated shipping is June 28th.  So are people getting exchanges getting 'fix' batch before new orders can be fulfilled for 5th of July?   Thanks!

That is what Chris has been saying.   The reason why it isn't free is because you have yet to return your monitor. If you return it, then it will be free. If not, then you will pay the $300 some odd dollars. Message Edited by meyer6847 on 06-21-200612:34 PM

The price is an invoice price. That is simply what dell requires you to pay to cover the cost of that monitor in case you don't ship it back. I think that that price is what the monitor costs Dell.

Thanks meyer for reply. I must have missed Chris' note on how much deposit would be on hold for replacement.

I'm bit surprised that the amount doesn't equal to actual price of monitor.

Oh well, I'll just wait to see what this replacement brings me!

I notice same thing in my account, and the order's description is "State Environmental Fee for display 15 inches, less than 35 inches" and the amount is

Sub-Total $318.74
Shipping $0.00
Tax $26.30
Total Price $345.04

So an environmental fee of $345? The monitor must be made of Uranium...

Anyway, my card isnt charged so I think this should be ok, just wait and see....

Received my 2407 replacement yesterday... it was shipped too quickly. :smileysad: Unfortunately the monitor has real bad backlight issue.. (left bright * right blue) I guess this is going back and will hope next one will be better.

The environmental fee is only for people in California. That is a law they have regarding the disposal of electronics.

Yes, I know, and it should be $8 instead of $345...and, this is supposed to be a replacement of 2407, but how could it be under this name?

btw, the item is still "under production" since Jun 21...dont know why there is such a long delay....
