You should check your monitor first to see if it's ok. UPS won't let you ship back your monitor when yuo get it, it doesn't work that way.
Once you've report the issue to Dell (if there's the backlight issue), they'll send you a new monitor. Then you put your old monitor in the box, call up UPS when you're read and UPS will charge the shipping to Dell.
You guys have to understand how slow a corporation moves. Not in getting out orders; they're lightning fast at that. But at communication. When you get to be a company the size of Dell, communication across all ends is a MASSIVE undertaking. I'd bet you dollars to donuts that at least 75% of the sales force working for Dell have no idea about the 2007W/FP issue, and would sell you one with glowing testiment regardless.
It's not done out of malice, it's just tough for people to get on the same page when you employ X-thousand people across the world.

I did get a private message from the moderator of this forum confirming that I'll probably want to either return the monitor for a refund or swap it after June 15, so I guess June 15 is the date all of those Chinese working overtime will supply the flashed monitor replacements. Our company's Dell sales rep knew nothing about the situation as of this afternoon, nor did the Dell tech rep to whom he referred me. In fact neither of them was even familiar with this Community Forum. Yikes.
