you will need to get a ide blade connector from dell spare parts, i hope you know who owned the computer because it there is a bios password on it and you don't know it you will not be able to bootup.

hi thier was no hard drive on laptop when i bought it.iput new hard drive in caddy but it does not reach for pins to fit

look at the old drive, is there a blade connector covering the pins? if there is you need to put it on the new drive pins.

hi  does the pins on hard drive go through the bottom of caddy that holds hard drive/iwill check on other bits you mention and get back to you tomorrow .thanks

the pins are inside the caddy, the blade connector sticks out beyond the caddy which in turn plugs in the motherboard.

hi, just finished building dell inspiron 1150 ,tried puting it on all i get is 2 green lights battery light goes on and of plus fan comes on every thing lasts 10 seconds  the motherboard has just been bought .help
