B130 wireless issues

Question

I hope you can help me.  My Inspiron B130 is having difficultly connecting to the internet using my wireless router.  There is no trouble when it is connected via a cable.  This laptop came with the following wireless networking card (Dell 1370 Internal Wireless 802.11 b/g, 54 Mbps).  The icons on the bottom of the screen show excellent signal and excellent signal strength and I still can not connect. The laptop initially worked fine and now the wireless connection is intermittent at best, even if I bring the laptop close to the router.  The router is a Linksys wireless access point router with 4 port switch model # BEFW11S4, 2.4 GHz 802.11b. This wireless router has been working with very few issues with my other laptop an Inspiron 6000 that came with the following wireless networking card (Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless 802.11 b/g, 54 Mbps). All suggestions are welcome.

power cycle the network: turn all devices off. disconnect all cables. keep them turned off for at least 2 mins. turn modem on. wait for 10 seconds. turn router on. wait for 10 seconds. connect modem to router. turn system on. if you still cannot connect, do: click start, run, type cmd, press enter. type: ipconfig /release. press enter. type ipconfig /renew. press enter. close all windows. test. if no go. restart system.
