I have seen a lot of you claiming that there is absolutely no banding on your A02.
I still have banding on my A02. Are you people sure you know what you are looking for?
Yes, do you :smileytongue:. haha, seriously though, I don't see any banding. No better or worse than the 17" LG LCD I upgraded from. I did check the original A00 banding by changing modes to see the difference too so I do know the difference.
Most of the tests show banding only near the dark end of the spectrum, but when playing games it is very evident
all over the spectrum. WoW looks particularly bad.
Now if they could only fix this banding.
The only way you could notice the banding so much is if you came from a CRT, or just psychology/subliminally want it to band. Either way they won't fix it cos there's nothing to fix (from their point of view and the people who also notice no banding.
Maybe you got very unlucky and got 3 dudded monitors.
If multiple people tell me that they see absolutely no banding with thier A02. Then I will consider trying yet another one of these monitors. I just viewed that site with my Laptop. Very slight banding (had to realy strain to see it), as the previous poster said all LCDs have a small banding issue. With my A00 the banding was horrible. Giant bands very noticable. With my A02 it is less, smaller less defined bands, but still very annoying.
Let me know what you guys see at that sight please. And if you play WoW, look at the sky with the A02. I see horrible banding still in that game
/edit
I just looked at http://www.spronkey.com/sdc-gradients.png and there is NO banding that I can tell. Maybe if I looked so close my nose is touching the screen I can see a pixel.
BUT I do see banding on black to white or gray. That is the only banding that is blatantly obvious.
jtfinke, dont worry about banding in the sky on WoW. Plug in a crt, play the game, and you'll see the exact same thing. It's not banding on the monitor, it's just the way the game was made.
I say that because I just switched from a 19" viewsonic crt to the 2007wfp, and in comparing the two they are now identical (in the fixed A02 version i recently received). Yes the A00 made it somehow look worse, but I'm extremely happy with how my A02 is performing now.
Zero dead pixels, no text blur, and no 'noticeable' banding. I say noticeable because after looking at several different makes and models of LCD's they all seem to have banding in one form or another if you look close enough. For my mostly gaming needs this is fitting the bill quite nicely.
Really? I never noticed that in wow until I plugged in my first 2007WFP. Well I will plug in my old fat CRT. If your right I will gladly apologize to Dell and continue to purchase thier products.... but that web link I put in my post did anyone try that? looks fine on my laptop. looks like junk on my new 2007WFP and looked horrible on my original 2007WFP.
I've still got some banding on my A02. I went from an LG 17" LCD to this one and it definately wasn't this bad. WOW is very noticeable as well as many sites. Even a gadient - on the darker end there is banding for sure. Coupled with the stuck pixels right in the middle of my screen I'm wodering what my options are.
How can some of you blame the banding on LCD technology when the 2007/2407 both show significantly less banding through VGA than DVI. This proves it's a problem with the input processing and not the actual panel. Banding does NOT happen to this degree on all LCD panels. If you believe this pyschologically/subliminally lying to yourself to be satisfied with the A02 and save the trouble of getting a replacement. If you're happy with this amount of banding fair enough, but please don't try implying that it'd a normal thing for all LCD's to do.

if you read around it seems most LCD monitors show some level of banding.
Also improved was the text clarity on my A02 going from an A00.

It's a whole lot less noticible than before, but it's the only one I can really see it on from a normal viewing distance.

WOW will always show banding. How do other games look using the following parameters -
All Monitor Calibration software turned off
Monitor in Desktop Mode
Monitor at 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz
