  1. Reset the monitor back to the default configuration.
  2. Check for and remove monitor accessories such as video extender cables and anti-glare screens.
  3. To adjust the image settings controls, perform the following steps: Press the On-Screen-Display (OSD) button on the front of the monitor. Select Image settings on the OSD menu. Select the Auto Adjust. If this does not improve the focus, change the Pixel Clock and Phase.

  4. Enter BIOS (System Setup) and see if the problem exists outside of Windows

  5. If the problem exists in BIOS, try swapping it w/ a known good monitor or flat panel just to check if the problem persists in another monitor

  6. Run the self-test if you have no extra monitor

  7.  To run the monitor self test, perform the following steps:

    1. Power off both the computer and the monitor.
    2. Unplug the video cable from the computer or video card.
    3. Reseat the power cord to the monitor, ensuring it is plugged into a known-good outlet.
    4. Power on the monitor.

Note: The monitor self test will move around on some monitor models. If the monitor self test moves, allow it to move to the affected areas of the monitor to check for the problem described.

8. Check for bent or broken pins on the connector

if your warranty is still active, give dell's tech support a ring at 1800-8228965 (input your express svc code) for a replacement. make sure to enumerate the stuff you did because they'll make you do them again.

venkat456,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

If you do not or cannot call the tech support line you can email support@dell.com and have them replace the monitor.
