Inspiron 6400 - turn down internal speakers volumn - please help

Question

Hello,   I searched this board w/o success of how to lower the volumn of the internal speaker on Inspiron 6400.  There're a couple of posts but not answered.  Can someone please help or point me in the right direction?  It's really loud.  External speakers have been turned off, but that shouldn't matter here.   Thanks much for your help.   Allan

No one is able to help with this question? I'm surprised! I think there're a few Dell technical experts browsing this forum, and no one has spoken yet. Is this a flaw in the 6400 or something???

I'm just a music teacher not a tech but the reason I didn't try to answer your question was because I didn't really understand it.

Are you saying that lowering the volume with the volume control doesn't work?

Ususally one can click the volume (speaker) icon and the volume slider appears.
