Your LCD screen is dieing. I have an old compaq laptop that just sits around now that did the exact same thing, except with the color green. The screen now just looks like tv snow, but with color.
Since you didn't say what Inspiron model you've got, I can't give you an exact price on a new LCD panel, but it'll probably be around $300-500.
With the scroll borders on the touchpad, you should be looking for "Synaptics Pointing Device" drivers. They should be on the blue Dell cd that came with you computer.
Thats what i was afraid of. It is an Inspiron 6000, and i looked to see if there were any other specs about it but i didnt know what to look for or where.
Is this something that someone relativly comfortable with tools and such could fox/replace or should i take it in? If i take it in, do you have and thoughts on sending it to dell vs taking it to some compter nerdz place or something like that?
