1) Is this your first time attempting this configuration?
2) It almost certainly sounds like a FC driver issue. Does Dell have a FW update for that particular card that might work better with their native drivers?
3) Do you have other card(s) or blades(s) you can try this on?
4) Can you try an earlier version of the FC card drivers?
Apologies if you've already covered the basics. I'm not a SAN expert, but I've had similar results before (though not using a blade) and it turned out to be the drivers. I'd tried both Dell's and the OEM's latest drivers and it actually took using older drivers -- of all things -- to get it to install.
1) This is the first time I have attempted any boot-from-san style configuration.
2) There is a specific Dell driver, as well as a more generic driver from Qlogic.
3) There is a second identical blade in the same 1855 chassis that I could try this with, but have not done so yet.
4) I have used both the Dell and Qlogic drivers, but those both result in a blue screen as soon as they are loaded. Only the native 2003 drivers will allow the text setup to continue. I have not looked for older versions of the non-native drivers.
I will try to find older drivers and attempt setting up on the other blade and post the results.
The latest Qlogic drivers for the DELL 2342M adapter can be found on the DELL support website or the Qlogic website. There is no need to go back to older drivers. The latest drivers are fully supported.
Can you provide some information from the blue screen?
