Inspiron 6000: problems with SD storage device (code 10)

Question

hallo, i have a problem with reading a SD card. When i insert the card into the slot, windows recognizes that there has been inserted a card (beep sound), but does not show it in 'My Computer'. I can not access the card, i tried with several different SD cards. When i open control panel/hardware there is an item called 'Secure Digital Storage Device', but marked with an yellow exclamation mark. The Failure Code is 'Code 10'. Has anybody had the same problem? Does anybody know a solution? Thanks in advance. Jay

Sounds like you need to install the driver for it. Go to Drivers and Downloads and look for the Ricoh driver for the SD slot.

thanks for your answer. i downloaded the ricoh rivers, unfortunately i was not able to install it successfully. It seems as if they were not developed for the Inspiron 6000. Which one are the right drivers for Inspiron 6000?

Ok. Maybe I was thinking of the slot for the E1505/6400. If I remember correctly, the SD driver for the 6000 is in the Intel Chipset driver package. Try this:
