The green glowish thing has somehow went away.. for now. The banding is a bit less as well, but still very apparent when calibrating the monitor.

I've asked Dell for a replacement and I have been making sure every forum I visit knows about the poor quality of the 2407 monitor. I hope dell realizes how much money this is costing them. :)

Going back to the original topic, ChrisM has left the door open for an A03, but I guess there's no way to know if the "Product group" will just take the list and chuck his piece of paper out the window.

Doesn't really help the mood does it - probably would've been easier for heaps of people to just full on say "there will no be A03", Must be some stupid legal thing (for those in Melbourne Australia, a bit like the Telstra Dome Stadium surface)

Personally, I can live with a little banding, maybe even the fill problem; But for someone who bought this monitor primarily for the component inputs, I feel betrayed. I was looking forward to playing my 360 at 1080i(a dream that is all but shattered at the moment) and because of the horrible component quality I cant.

Amen brother.

My friend runs his 360 via component into his 2405fpw at 1080i and it looks stunning. I snagged a 2407 obviously assuming it would work just as well as the 05, considering its supposed to be the newer, better version. I couldnt believe my eyes when I hooked it up and saw a component input that looked worse than composite.

Dell advertising a component input on the 2407 is a blatent lie. I will continue to spread the word to all of my colleges and friends to avoid Dell at any cost, as long as they keep up their shadey and depective business practices.

same here i was hoping to tun 1080i on component from xbox 360 but this is just ridiculous!!

ChrisM, as requested,

Numbered, concise list with examples, OK on my second 2407 rev A02. Same Problems.

1. Banding.
These pictures clearly show that the A02 suffers from banding.

Connected to Brand New Machine, just booted to desktop and diplayed pattern.

2. No 1080p over DVI
My user manual as well as the manual available on Dell online support goes into great detail about the specifications of the monitor. It lists supported resolutions and even goes so far as to detail each pinout of the DVI and VGA connection. Yet this monitor will not accept a 1080p signal from a Blu-Ray player over DVI

Blu-Ray Playback (Samsung)

3. Ghosting.
Scrollbars shimmer and show a ghosting effect when moved on the 2407 but when I instantly move the window over to the 2405, this effect is non existant.

*Example is in video format, waiting to populate on google video*
Chris, PM me and I can make this example available to you.

Please take these issues to the Product Group as this monitor has so much potential but obviously still suffers from series image quality issues that its predeccesor does not.

Hey fantastic post and pics.

You should also post this (or post link to this) in the Complete list of known problems thread.

And post/link in the banding comparison thread.

(or I could it for you if you can't be bothered :smileytongue: )

To echo Duff, beautiful!

Just to show that its not an isolated incident, both of the replacement 2407 A02s I received show this type of banding on DVI (both Mexico manufacture), and its painfully obvious from the other threads that many other customers have the same problem.

The only thing I would say to add (I would if I could take a decent photo with my digital cameral) are photos of the images using the VGA input--on my monitor(s) there is no banding with VGA (although text is much sharper with DVI input).  This definitely indicates that the monitor is capable of displaying a smooth image (i.e. not something inherent in the panel), but that there is something up with the DVI circuitry.

yeh duff the horizontal also shows no banding this also indicates a smooth picture is possible, now they just need to fix the vertical banding and i think we will have a nice picture then....
