Void My Warranty?

Question

Will opening my case void my warranty? I have (a number of times) removed my keyboard and a couple pieces under it in order to access, remove, and clean my fan (I have, like most other 5100 users, experienced its nasty overheating problem). I am asking this now because a service tech from Dell is going to be here tomorrow morning to fix my screen which recently went out (I am currently using an external monitor). I don't want him to get here and and tell me that there isn't anything he can do because I opened the case. There were no 'quality seals' I had to break or anything. I know it doesn't matter now, but I would just like to know. I thought that I had read on these forums once that is does not void the warranty, but honestly I find that hard to believe. Thanks for any info you can give me.

It won't hurt your warranty to open the case.

If you break something as a result of opening the case, yes, that will void your warranty on the damaged part. But opening the case itself isn't a warranty-voiding act. HTH
