I have just encountered the same problem and am very disappointed in my new notebook.  Have only had it 3 days and have gone back to my old Inspiron 1100.

I've angled the screen on mine when sunlight was bright......fixed it.

I have the same problem.  I have thought about making a hood like the old camera guys used in the Westerns.  I too am very disappointed that I couldn't see my laptop GPS in the car because I couldn't see the screen.  I will have to try the angle of screen and HOPE that that helps.

Hello, I just got my new Inspiron 1505 today and I could just cry.  Glare has always been a problem with me, my eyes are just sensitve.  This new computer is a gift from my son, I just cannot tell him about this glare problem.  I can hardly see the screen clearly. I feel like I have a bright light in my eyes and you are telling me there is no setting to change tgeh contrast at least some??

That laptop is also available with a regular screen with an anti-glare coating. Dell's have a 21 day return period.

You might want to try something like this to reduce the glare. 3M Notebook Privacy Filter Note the part about 95% glare reduction. These are a thin sheet of film, and the one I saw worked very well, both as a privacy filter, and for glare. I think the true life screens are gorgeous, for home use, but when I tried it at work, I hated the glare.

I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit, Oddment, Blubber, Tweak. <----------------------WHAT??

I don't understand this....the FN key & the arrow keys work well for me, not sure what is going on with you but thanks about the other info.

Dell needs to provide more anti-glare options. The only reason I haven't yet bought a new 1521 is because I don't want that TrueLife / Glossy screen. I find those screens VERY distracting, always reflecting bright lights and I wind up just bugged by seeing my own reflection all day long (if you saw me you'd understand :-) I had been peeking at the 1521 "build-it-yourself" pages for weeks waiting for Dell to offer more than one resolution option with the anti-glare coating, but now the single option has disappeared, and there's no choice except those dumb "glossy" screens that reflect every single ceiling light over my shoulder. Please Dell -- MORE ANTI-GLARE SCREENS FOR NOTEBOOKS!!!!!!!!! Thye supposed boost in "clarity" of the glossy screen is irrelevant if I'm distracted by seeing every single pore on my face reflected in the screen. --TBR

I have had my Inspiron 1505 Tru-Life Glare for a while now, and I was able to adjust it down and I was able to see it in he car just fine while traveling this summer.

My issue now is that if I put my Notebook to "sleep" and then "wake" it up, the keyes and mouse are frozen, also my E key is sticking pretty badley, any ideas on that?  I have used can air, popped off the top of the key cover and I see nothing under there although that is exactly what it feels like.

I appreciate your time and I hope I hear from someone soon.
