I suspect cartridges to be at fault, especially if an old one works without error. Give support a call.

Given that the printer is not under warranty, it looks like
I have to agree to a $99.00 charge to call support. Do you know how to do this without incurring this charge?

well since the carts were purchased seperately, i think you should be able to get support on that as well as a replacement. try to call them
