I saw that post from Chris_M stating that no A03 is planned. Today I rang Dell to arrange for a refund, I told the tech that I had Rev. A02 and is still suffering from banding (Chris_M if you need proof, rotate the screen 90 degrees to Portrait mode and look at any website with a gradient on it, no Adobe gamma or anything else used). The tech informed me that there are new 'parts' to fix the banding in Rev. A02s. I asked him specifically, just to be sure, that he was saying that there's a fix to the fix (A02s)? He said yes, however there was no ETA on when the 'parts' were going to be available.
If this is true, Chris_M could you confirm? Has anybody here been offered another fix to the A02s?
Kind regards,
What_madkat
Side Note: I'd like to say, apart from the wait times, Dell tech support have been excellent every time.
Unless I'm mistaken the "new parts" mentioned would be the hardware change that has been discussed and should be present in any 2407 ordered after July 5th. Those that have the original panels receive firmware fix, those later will have a hardware fix.
I may very well be incorrect however there have been posts on this board to suggest the above.
well, that guy on overclockers.au didn't do any off-horizontal, general case banding tests, the A02 is pretty good at what he shows in his photos (pure horizontal), so i would bet that his actually has banding, he just threw up a couple images for a few seconds and wrote his review.
interesting about this thing about parts to fix the A02 fix, not sure what to believe, but would be nice to get confirmation before 21 days are up. not sure, i have to test it more when I get back, but i am seriosuly thinking of retuning it and giving 244t a shot, however, if they will have an A03....
if they do have an A03 I hope they add a 16:9 option to firmware, a trivial fix that would take programmer about two minutes to add, because external device 720p input looks stretched too tall. while they are at it, they should also not gray out scaling choice for 1200p input, doesn't hurt me currently, but I hear it currently hurts ATI users badly and who knows about future cards, this fix would take all of a 30 seconds to program, probably single line of code would do it.
would be nice if they switched to the 1080i de-scaler too and gave 2405 quality to component, but I'm not counting on that, just the banding at this point.

* That is false.

* Also false. The only changes we made were in the firmware.
Thanks for clearing that up ChrisM. Have you been in communication with the product engineerers with regards to the vertical banding (horizontal when the monitor is used in portrait mode)? This is in regular use (websites with gradients, not in Photoshop) , Desktop mode and NO gamma correction software used.

Come on Chris - I am amazingly close to cancelling my order for two 2407's... There are still problems with the A02, what is being done about it? I am distraught now as I've learned that there is significant tearing using an Xbox 360 in VGA mode in any mode other than fill. This is the primary purpose for me getting this monitor! The component is seeminly as useful as a car with no wheels for the 360, so I was relying on the VGA being perfect!
