ok wil applying of any thermal compunt dont use too much you are going to make it worse, but just put like a paper thin layer and thats about all you need, also theres a program that you can use to force the fan to full speed, i have it on my 5100 and keeps it around 25 degrees celcius, my celeron ran hotter but my 2.8 (runnin at 1.6) at the 25 degree mark get it here http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html try that,

When you replaced the heatsink fan, did you remove the layer of dust from the radiator grille?   It can form such a thick layer that it looks as though it is meant to be there -- some sort of filter, perhaps -- but it is simply killing your system.  Since you've had the whole thing in pieces, you won't need these instructions on how to clean the radiator, but the link might help other readers of this post:  (They are for a 5150, but it's the same for 5160s.)
 
 
I'd recommend using i8kfangui as well.  Don't overdo the thermal paste; but do make sure that the CPU boss and heatsink face are completely clean -- I use the Arctic Silver 2-stage cleaner and surgical gloves to stop skin oil contaminating the surfaces.

You might want to check out getting a notebook cooler It will keep your notebook cool by a good 5-12 degrees.
