No message indicating a lock appear. The only time it did it was just before the buttons stopped answering. It was not a message either, just a big padlock icon in the middle of the screen.

I tried pressing the "-" and "+" buttons, the "Menu" and "+" buttons, the "Power", all shortly and for a period of time, yet they don't answer. None of them do anything, and the screen is stuck at "ON", since I can't turn it off other than unplugging it. To have it take another signal input, I have to disconnect all but the one I want it to take and unplug-replug. Console is completely out. Light on Power button works normally: Green when on, Orange when it enters power saving mode.

This screen does not have channel up/down or sound up/down buttons, just the "-" and "+" which are for Menu operation I believe. Nonethless, I tried what you said to no avail.

Kooey1,

Try this and let me know the results -

* A message appears stating that the OSD and buttons are locked
* Press the volume decrease and channel up buttons on the monitor simultaneously
-or-
* Press the channel up and volume increase buttons on the monitor simultaneously
* A message appears stating that the OSD and buttons are unlocked

I have the same lack of front controls on my 2007 FP (Wide). The only way to turn the monitor off is by unplugging.

I just succeeded in unlocking the controls on my 2007 FP by holding the plus and minus buttons in for about 20 seconds simultaneously.

I just wish I had your luck, I believe I held them both for over a minute but it remains locked =(

Same problem here, can't find the documentation for this ANYWHERE on the dell site. After reading your post I pressed and held my menu button for ~20-30 seconds on 2007FPW a00 and it removed the lock.

Good luck,

Scott

The same happened to my dad's 15" lcd monitor.

None of the buttons responded and then he got a big padlock blinking on the screen.

The only way I got it to go away was by changing the screen's resolution. I posted step by step instructions on this page.
