I have the same problem even with the basic speakers that with the headphones as well. :(

Snella, I vaguely remember that FAQ. I think it was some outdated info that did not apply to the modern Inspirons.

What model Inspiron do you have?
Are you connected to any external audio devices such as stereos etc?

I get the same problem. For example: In iTunes when I am playing a song it will randomly sound static-like. It gets worse if i scroll down through my library while that song is playing.

Yes, if you use Windows (opening folder, reading files, or using internet) is get worse. And it start to do it like two weeks ago.. Can depends on something related to windows updates? May be some setting have been changed?
