Unfortunately, Dell has messed up on this one.
Maybe the image will not be streched if you select the Multimedia mode in the monitor menu? But of course, there will be awful banding...

Do you have a NVIDIA video card?
If yes, you may try to force 1:1 in the video driver setup.

BTW, this feature does not work for the ATI cards.

Wouldn't this just be a case of 16:9 ratio as against 16:10 for the dell?
Not overly sure about this.

I can't force 1:1 and the multimedia mode didn't allow me to change the aspect. I have a feeling i'm going to be stuck with this...

What happens if you try to imput 720p?
My earlier answer was only about the small black bars top & bottom btw.
nvidia v/card option too expensive or have you a very high end ATI?
Maybe have to wait for A04.
A real pain & v/cards should really not matter but it does.

I'm not using a PC. I am using some video scaling equipment that produces true 1080p timings and cannot compensate for 1920x1200 like a PC. When i use 720p, i can set the scale mode to 1:1 no prob. where did you hear that A04 will have this bug fixed? that is very promising news if true.

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate the help.

Sorry, no A04 on the horizon that I know of:(  But, there are still some resident problems that should be fixed. Especially the ATI & Nvidia thing as both of these are the most used on computers atm.. Also the non able to be used other modes should be addressed & even the leaning stands;) Did I mention the 1080p/i & 720p/i ?
I believe that for most people the rev. A03 addresses o lot of the older problems though.
cheers
