Sounds like another MB Failure

September 4th, 2006 13:00

Yep...that's what I'm thinking too.  I'm trying to build up my patience level enough to call tech support later today.  While the laptop itself is out of warranty, I wonder if Dell backs their repairs for any length of time.  The motherboard was replaced last December.

If still under warranty, the'll replace it again.

Warranty states that replacement parts are warranted for the life of the system warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer.  So if the remaining warranty is longer than 90 days, you get the warranty period, if less or out of warranty, you get 90 days.

Hey man check out this link. for pics of this procedure.
Remove the C panel on the inspiron .
       remove the nIC.
remove the black plastic under the NIC
LOok for wear on the C639 chip
If u see wear on tha chip ,the article is probly relevant
The case pushes on it screwing up  tha mB apparently.
I get no Leds, no fan no nothing
Dell really  makes me mad sometimes
Every1 should get a  for recall going on these things
Their response to this matter was to change the warrantee from 1 yr to 90 days
A client of mine has the same issue.
                       tha good D.r.

I would say if Dell put the MB in less than a year ago it should be under waranty, send it back. Also they are in court over the 5150 because of defects You might qualify under that. It's called the Lundell Settlement.

Does the Lundell Settlement apply to the 5100 or is there one pending for the 5100?  I have had the same problems with my 5100 overheating and shutting down in the past.
