2407WFP freezing on wake up

Question

Hi all, I received my new 2407WFP monitor a couple weeks ago, which looks great but for one issue.  I am using it for TV and have it connected to the DVI port on my Samsung SIR-T351 HD tuner.  When I turn off the tuner, the monitor says 'entering power save', and the lights turn orange, as they should.  Then, when I come back later (minutes, hours, days...doesn't matter) and turn the tuner back on, the problem occurs.  The lights turn green as if the monitor is about to wake up, but then it freezes and never displays a picture.  Nor do any of the buttons on  the front of the monitor (including power) respond when pressed.  The only fix is to physically unplug the monitor, plug it back in, and then it is fine (until you turn off the tuner once again and it goes back to sleep).   The tuner seems to be working well as can be demonstrated by the fact that it does not need to be adjusted at all during the process.   A way to avoid this is to manually wake up the monitor by pressing the 'input toggle' button once just seconds before turning the tuner on.  In that case the monitor wakes up (the lights turn green) in response to my command rather than being woken up by the tuner, and there is no problem.  However this is pretty hokey and I don't think I should have to stand by my monitor trying to keep it awake as I turn my device on.  It seems to me that a monitor should be able to accept a DVI input without freezing.   I notice that someone else in the forums mentions monitor buttons becoming unresponsive. I chatted with Dell customer service and they asked if my tuner had any ATI processes running in the background--they suggested a bad graphics card or driver. That link has 'bit the bullet'. Heard of this type of problems before on this site. I really don't think it is a v/card or the tuner/dvi. Does it do this in normal operation ie. without using the tuner? Sounds a bit like dell is trying to pass the buck onto other gear. If it does it on any setup then I would assume it to be faulty. Another way to get around this is to turn off (by clicking never) in the xp power options area. You can also turn off sceen savers as these can be a nuisance at times. cheers
