I just received my 2407 WFP and am experiencing headaches when I sit in front of it for an hour or so.

I have a GEFORCE 7300 video card that doesn't output DVI and hence I am using a VGA output. The graphics card is capable of supporting 1900x1200 @60Hz refresh rate .

I am wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem. Would replacing my graphics card help me in any way. Any recommendations on decent graphics cards to be used with this monitor.

Thanks

I'm sure your rig is fine then. Mine are, but I always painstakingly double check everything I can think of.
In your case Last In, First Out. Swap out the monitor 1st and eliminte all the other work of formating and monitor drivers and do those as a last resort. I knew you knew what to do:)

Good luck.

My 21 day return deadline is quickly approaching. I talked to Dell today via online chat, and they are sending me a new 2407. I'll keep everyone updated. It will probably be a day or two until it ships.

Off topic: It was funny when the hardware support guy on the other end of the chat session asked me, "What do you mean by banding?" My reply was, "I know you know what banding is..." :)

Riffe, thanks for update, was a good read.

yes i see the banding there, as u say its awesome monitor, close to perfect except for a few fundamental things.

dirty dead pixel look alikes, fooled me too once :@

you say your seeing banding and not even looking for it now, yeh i had the exact same dilemma nagging in the back of my mind.

Hit Dell up for a A03, its only fair imo.

teh ubar lcd

I had a chat with the customer support guy and he said it is 21 days from shipping date. He even confirmed this with his supervisor. I remember it is 21 days from receiving days. May be the representative did not know what he was talking.

Thanks,

No, it's from the date of the invoice order. It clearly says so on the returns site on the customer service tab. Click on monitors and tell it you want to return for a refund and it tells you 21 days from the invoice date. In my case, I ordered it on Aug 31st, got it today on 9/5, and have 16 more days to request a refund.

Read Carefully,

Page 8 of the Product Information Guide that came with your 2407 monitor states:

"The limited warranty on all Dell-branded products begins on the date of the packing slip or invoice."

This date starts the 21-day return policy as well as the 3year or 5-year Advanced Exchange warranties.
Never let Dell talk you into a 15% restocking fee or pay return shipping, as they will try to do because that is also stated in the P.I. guide. Page 11. Always state the manufacturers defect (Example: Banding so bad it is an unusable product) to DELL and it's all Dell's fault and obligation for them to get you a brand new monitor. What's in writing in that Guide is your contract and when it comes down to it that's what Dell will try to hold you to regardless what a customer rep or supervisor said.
If you can get a rep to extend the 21 day period be sure to get their 1. Full name 2. Extension number, 3. a direct phone number to that person and 4, Email address 5. ask did you note this in my account information so you have some proof if you have to deal with someone else so you can tell that person this was noted in my account and give exact time and date it was. This holds DELL to some level of honesty.

I had an issue with DELL recently what three supervisors, a sales rep, and 2 customer reps. said all turned out to be false. When they tried to change a sales order and add a product warranty to a product that didn't even ship yet their DOMS system would not let them do it, so they all said. I would of had to return and reorder, before it even left Dell warehouse. Sounds stupid but that's what DELL did. I had all their names was extra nice to them and that’s how it ended because that's their policy.

Hope this helps,
Good day.:)

All,

I have meeting with BenQ tomorrow to discuss all of the functional issues with the 2407. I will be scanning all the threads for 2407 issues. If you find a post or thread you want me to discuss. Post the link into this thread.

Maybe there is hope.

TO ALL,

Re: "Dell 2407WFP (Digital)" Driver

On another topic, because I never mentioned it before, has everyone here installed the driver that comes with the Disc that has the 2407 User Guide on it.

If you did, it'll show up in your device manager list and other places as a "Dell 2407WFP (Digital)". Properties driver date, 10-14-05 V.1.0.0.0.
I connect thru DVI.

Don't know if this driver effects performance or not.

I know you all probably did this already:) Just wondering.

Anyone know of a newer driver for a 2407WFP?

Hope this helps,
Good Day.:)

I just bought 2 2407WFP monitors and they are both Rev A02.  The monitors look great at 1920 x 1200.  I have not tried any graphic tests with photoshop, but large images display without apparent banding.

The problem that brought me to this forum is that both monitors have a USB problem.  When I plug them in to my new Gateway Core 2 Duo, the "USB Root Hub (8 ports) shows 7 unused ports and one "Unknown Device".  I have XP professional and have not had any problems with other USB devices.  Basically, XP is not recognizing the Monitors hub.

Secondly,  How did I get a Rev A02 if I ordered less than 2 weeks ago?  Since I have only had the monitors for a few days, should I send them back for Rev A03 monitors?

Dell-ChrisM what would you suggest?
