Hmmm....That sure is an odd one. Drivers are all the way updated. Windows is up to date, and your mcafee is up to date. Have you tried disabling mcafee to see? A different internet browser? also a different speed tester?
You probally know this, but bandwidth is measured in bits which is 1/8 the size of a byte. So you would be getting 6600Kbps or your real rate of 1MBps, 8000Kbps. So if you are receiving 1400Kbps less than what you should be getting, isnt that a problem itself, maybe its related? What happens if the notebook is the only computer on the network, with a router, the computers share bandwidth and some might be faster than others. Thats wierd for its speed to be less, but I think this is internet connection related or that you are sharing the bandwidth.
Reason why: Your transfer speed via wireless is 54Mbps, where as your "internet speed" is supposed to be at 8Mbps. So seeing as you are transfering faster, it could be an issue with your isp, modem, cords, or router. Updating your router's firmware might help this, warning tho, it could freeze your router, so call the manufacturer for help just to make sure.

So I downloaded DrTCP, set my TCP window size to 65536, restarted, and now my speed test says 6888K.
