D-Link DWL-G650+ wireless card is SLOW with Inspiron 8200 XP

Question

I have 1MB ADSL connection and when I use the card in Win2K IBM laptop I get 930K throughput at http://toast.net performance test but with my Inspiron I get only 54K. In the inspiron I have XP Home with all Windows updates installed. I also upgraded the BIOS to latest A10. D-link support says the problem is in the Inspiron because the card works in Thinkpad. Anyone know what could cause the slowness and how to fix this? thanks for any ideas, Panu

Panu, Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum. Update the firmware and network drivers to the latest available.  You might also try changing the channel on the wireless product.

I changed the channel from 6 to 1 and now the troughput is about 800K!!!  Thank you so much!  I can't believe they didn't suggest this in D-link support.. - Panu -
