Reseat, and if that doesn't work, replace the DC power board.

Like posted in my first message, the extended tests say the harddrive passed everything. The bios does recgonize the hard drive. And the screen is ONLY black after the bios loads up. Not before. The bios screen pops up and then the screen goes black and the computer does nothign afterwards. It will not load up windows and there is no sounds coming from the computer. I have tried to reinstall windows but after the cd starts up and detects the hardware it goes right back to the black screen that does nothing

If this is the problem why is it the power is still going to the laptop but it just isnt loading? I am able to boot a live linux cd just fine so I am just curious if this is whats causing the problems? Power seems to be going fine to my computer, thanks for your help, just let me know if this will be the necessary step as I have already reseated

YOu said the screen went black - if the power is still on, a couple of other things could be wrong.

Attach an external monitor - if it works, the backlight on the display panel has failed.

The other possibility is that the hard drive has expired. Does the BIOS see the hard drive, and what happens if you do an extended test on it?

If the screen goes black, how can you have run a 2-hour diagnostic on the hard drive?
