I had almost the same problem, when I rotated to portrait my screen was crooked. About 1/3 inch off and It locked into place and I could not fix it. Make sure you call sales because tech support will just refer you. They will send you a replacement monitor with a shipping slip to ship that one back.

what exactly do you mean? they will send me a replacement first and only after i receive a new i will have to return the croocked one i have? and they will pay for shipping? what number should I call?
any tips on returning my monitor will be welcome. I've never returned anything i've bought online. Thanks!
If you are within the first 21 days, they will ship you a new monitor and return slip to ship your old one back. Yes you can keep it till you receive the new monitor and no you will not have to pay for shipping. You cannot do this online, you must CALL the sales number and make sure you have the serial number off the back of your monitor and your customer or shipping number because they will need it.
As for me, I've been through 5 (Five; ...count 'em... 5) Monitors and 4 had the same problem. Ironic thing was that of the first 4 1907FP's, the best *Stand* was from a refurbished monitor which was mistakenly shipped. lol
My current 2007FPb has the same crooked tilt to the right. The stand for the 20" and the 19" differ; 19" being smaller and therefore not "properly" interchangeable.
BTW, the Display Screen is not at fault; the stand is. Confirmed by swapping the Monitor Display Panel onto another Stand.
well I've just contacted dell sales and they are sending me a replacement. now, it seems to me (by reading other posts) that dell monitors are hit or miss (i.e. Captain Picky who needed 5 till he got a good one). So my question is, if the new monitor that comes has a good stand but there is something wrong with the screen, can i keep the old screen and just replace the stand? and so mail back my crooked stand and the new unused monitor?
That's what I did with one of them, as the exact problem was that the replacement monitor itself was worse than the one it was supposed to replace. I even informed Dell Customer Support of the fact that the refurbed stand was better than 3 "new" stands and told them I swapped it out.
I wish to add this bit about all this though, and that is I personally cannot fault Dell for not trying to rectify matters. They have gone above and beyond what I'd imagine many firms might do to satisfy a customer. For me, that is a fact and I cannot speak poorly of Dell in that regard.
The real problem is that all of this is rather costly from any angle you'd care to examine it. Costly to a customer in terms of lost productivity; costly to Dell with constant requests via phone for support / shipping / exchanges / returns / refunds / hourly wages to Tech Support and Customer Support personnel having to deal with the same issues over and over again.
It seems to me that a bit more effort in the Quality Control and consistency department (for the better; not worse) along with valid, accurate documentation, would be a boon for all parties concerned. Ultimately, on that level, I'd think that overall costs would be the same for all parties, possibly even less, not to mention the reputation of a given product or the Company itself.
This post composed while working on a monitor which tilts to the right (amongst other "issues" ).... At this point, I just have to laff. lol :smileyindifferent:
I really thought this was a joke - even my wife laughed - quote - I have been monitoring these forums for about 2 months. This is the first time I have heard of this problem.
Rose colored glasses?
These stands seem to be a lot past a joke as the 2407 s have a lot of the same leaning. I thought it was an off centre internal power supply & a weak stand.
Maybe dell should supply free wall mounts as an alternative???
well sadly I am here at the Dell forum in the first place. Reason being I just got my new 2407 A3 today. the very first thing I notice is the sheer size of this baby. COOL!
set up stand click on the monitor and , all the air went out of my balloon the darn thing is crooked. I can't begin to explain how unhappy I am. I bought it off ebay so I'm not even sure if I can return it or not. Haven't even hooked it up to look at it yet. I decided to come here , quite honestly, to find the simple fix to correct the crook in the stand. but NO , no fix mentioned that I have yet seen. this stinks. As I'm thinking I don't imagine the seperate parts in the stand were manufactured crooked its should be in the assembly. Has anyone taken apart stand and corrected this issue? if so PLEASE send me a PM, I'd VERY much appreciate it.

If I were you, I would return it! You did not pay for a defective screen.

I had to change my screen for a completely different problem and my new monitor sits perfectly straight in landscape and portrait mode.
