Dimension XPS and 3007 WFP

Question

Background: I recently purchased a 30' . Before making the buy I inquired as to need for video card on my Dimension XPS. I was assured by the sales person and, subsequently by three techs that the card was not the issue (of which I was skeptical). After a lot of time and frustration on the phone, we clarified that I did, indeed, need the dual link DVI video card and now I also think that this monitor is only compatible with a Precision workstation.   Can anyone shed any light on this? I am very unhappy with the inept staff and am anticipating that I will just return the hardware (which is leased and I hope that doesn't present a problem to returning it) and get a full refund.   Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I think Dell reccomends a 6800 series or 6800GT nVidia video card for the 3007.

The 2407 uses a single link DVI if I'm not mistaken.

No. Not that I know of. Others us them with PC's.

I don't think you stated what the exact problem was. Doesn't it work at all or what?

Sorry I wasn't more clear. I wanted to ascertain if the Dell Dimension XPS that I have for a desktop was suitable for this card/monitor.   Regarding price, Dell says $900+ but has now added they will beat any price I can confirm as legit.  And, I think I can.   Thanks for your input.
