If ordering in the U.S., I would call and specifically request 2407 version A03 only, not A02. This would also save from exchanging for the A03 in the future and after 21 days U.S. you'll most likely get a Refurb A03 for your A02 .
If you have read the posts, there is a banding issue, but I guess it depends what you are going to use it for.
Gaming you definitely want an A03:)
That gradient is nice and smooth on my screen. I hooked up the DVI input today and the colors are all perfect. using the vga some of the white was off and it was extremely bright but the dvi fixed all that.
is there another issue i should be testing or concerned about?
So I chatted with dell today to try and exchange my a02 which was purchased on tuesday for an a03 and they said no. i'd have to return it and re-order another one while paying the shipping back.
Returning and reordering is just a waste of time and money for you and Dell. The reps that state this are blowing you off and think you'll just go away or return for refund at your expense. Dell should be more accommodating to its loyal customers or they will go elsewhere
U.S. most likely, AU, Sweden No.
Read this and it's up to you to follow through if you want, I WOULD!
Customers are being to nice and requesting that they just want an A03.
Tell the Dell rep. that your 2407 A02 has "manufacturers defects". If it's an A02, I personally know it does, "banding" and is unusable for your purposes, the backlight is uneven, the backlight leaks, all the corners of all my A02's did and any other problems you see posted here that effect your A02 state them to Dell. Tell the rep that the Dell forum addresses these defects and issues and the only fix is an exchange for a 2407 A03. If the rep still won't do it, ask for a manager and restate the defects and insist on an A03 to correct these issues and settle this problem amicably or you will return for a full refund. The rep or manager should take care of you immediately and ship an exchange A03 immediately "overnight" and ask for them to include a return-shipping label prepaid shipping, for you to send the defective A02 back to Dell because Dell sent you a defective monitor, it's their fault, if in U.S. You can also mention that you are a member of the Dell Community Forum and all the senior members are concerned that your case should be solved with an exchange for a new A03 as soon as possible and you are going to post the outcome of your request. That should do it and I personally want to see the post and know what they told
you. Dell doesn’t want to loose customers.
Get a case number established, get the number write it down, get an email confirmation for your transaction, write down the reps. name or managers name, get the new order number if available, get an expected delivery date, make a log of all facts. Make it clear, and be polite, that you must exchange the "defective 2407 A02 for a 2407FPW A03 and that is the only solution you will agree with.
Don't wait to long or Dell will try to stick you with a REFRBISHED A03, if your warranty return period runs out. 21 days in the U.S. I would initiate the exchange as soon as possible, NOW!
This should take care of your problem.
We will all be waiting to see what happens.:)
I'm floating this thread to the top of my list and will be watching it.
Hope that helps.:)

In DVI probably banding A02
A03 no banding in DVI and VGA.
It's that simple, anyone who orders insist on an A03.
