It is a system board problem; on that model, the cost of a replacement board may make replacing the system a better idea.

The problem that I have is that the Inspiron 1100 does not work when the AC adapter plugs in or Battery& AC adapter, it power up Ok and works for about 2 minutes then the screen goes completely black and the Laptop still works fine but no display on the screen. This time I turn it off and unplug the AC adapter the laptops works fine, no problem at all. Could it be the mainboard?

cheers,

I have a problem with my 1100.  I've had it now for 4 years with virtually no problems, but this evening I found that it would not power on.  While checking all of the connectios, I found there was a lot of water (?) under the bottom.  I removed the battery and found more wetness there.  Not sure how it got there.  I removed the keyboard to have a loot in the top, but no wetness.  All water seems to be coming from the bottom.  Is there anything I can do?

It sounds weird, I know!!
