Didn't mean to torment you with those links ;). It was quite a saga. Of course now all anyone needs to know is "is it fixed?'
Well for what it's worth:
Is the Revision A02 2007FPW safe?
I could get a college degree spending the same time on getting to the bottom of this mystery. Conclusion: "Life's to short for Dell"
Yes, I wonder whether I would buy one for the first time now.
I like his answer & the fact that he did some reading which most people don't do. Like that one earlier today, we gave him the answers & the links & what does he do? He opens another thread on the same subject - what a pain.
I think this guy has the right idea in that unless he can be relatively sure - go & graze in another pasture.

Maybe its the new 8th wonder of the world... will it get its own wiki page in near future?
You simply have to read:
1) a FAQ on the subject
2) more that 40 pages in the threads you linked to (which is based on an even more comprehensive thread!)
to get more of the info like: "Mine is ok, Mine is not, Mine is maybe ok, do-I-even-have-a-problem patch is out!, etc".
