Yes, that's what I meant, but is there any way to solve the problem totally?? I guess not. Mine is Rev A02. I can accept it using desktop mode, so might just hold back my refund afterall, since I really like the design esp the support.  But even in Desktop mode, there's still some minor banding, though very small. But if I export jpeg file with a gradient sky, the banding can be seen and is export as seen on screen. The sales Tech said They don't know A03 will come soon to my country in Asia, guess I'll might just use this Lcd and wait for the A03 replacement. What do you think>> Cheers

If your work is graphics, art or you are a Photoshop expert and banding will directly affect your livelihood meaning your income, I won't recommend these LCD's to anyone in this position.

There are other LCD's on the market that don't band.

You are more likely to see bandng in compressed files.

Hope that helps :)

The Desktop Mode disables an image processing chip in the monitor that causes the severe banding in Multimedia and Games modes. This was Dells first fix for banding. Therefor that's the only mode you should use.

About revision A03 of 2007WFP available in Europe, I have one and I just noticed something weird. I described it in a thread.

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_monitor&message.id=67860

Basically, in some gradients I can't really see any noticable banding. Though in others I might see some and in certain games it's evident. By this I mean that I'm not sure A03 is much different from A02 when it comes to banding. Still though, I think I'm going to keep it as I really like the fantastic colors, the design and the overall build quality.

Yeh i agree with ATF here, if you depend on accuracy for a living, 2407 is probly not the best option, these issues wont bother most people, the loss of details in grey areas is a bit of a problem.

Thanks for the info

Hi Guys,

not sure is good news a not, juz contracted the tech support again. mentioned two issues: banding problem and a bright pixal just appear in my centre of the screen for no reason. And they say they will arrange for a replacement and they say will keep arrange for one till banding is fix even the new one still have this banding problem. not sure I heard that wrongly.

Well, I can digest with the bright pixal but the banding really have giving me alot wrong judgement to my work.

Thanks!, that is good news if you want to keep it, i guess what i would be concerned about is, when you get a new one it still might not be up to spec for you and after 21 days you cant get a full refund. Meanwhile you need to have a good display for work while dell keep changing over monitors for you, tough call, hope DELL sends you a A03 so you can decide if its adequate for your needs, id like to hear your opinion about the A03 you may or may not get.

Thanks for the info, have a good day :)

jovi,
If you need a good one for work with no banding - either keep exchanging it until you get a good one, or, if this is just not good enough for your work then get a refund.

Hi, arch,
You know what I would like to say don't you? he he.
btw. A friend of mine from PCPP forums has just signed up here on dell site as Godzilla_1337. He was going to buy a 2407 & I told him about my diff. one & he said it was a bit too expensive. After looking on here for a while just guess what he bought? lol
Treat him well if he comes on here, good guy...
cheers

Remember, no banding in Desktop mode only, you will see banding in Gaming and Mutimedia modes.
Hope this one is beter.
The faint dark lines in gradients in Desktop mode are gradation not banding so now I've been told :)

Someone put up a pic of gradation and called it banding and then stated banding was fixed in the next revision.
Go figure :) Some one posted gradation in all LCD's are like steps in gradients which doesn't make any sense either. Since, "Gradation of color is a consistent and gradual change from one color to another." no steps mentioned here.

Got my 2007wfp just last thursday. The next day I asked for a refund. Only this Wednesday Custoner service said they approved the refund and the recall team will contact me for collection. I suspect that will take another 1 week and then the wait for the money to be credited back to my visa. I don't know how long that will be. But I am determined to boycott  Dell for as lond as it take.

I'll be buying the same 20" Apple LCD monitor instead, cost 1200 sgd but a peace of mind for my graphic works, don't you think.
I have a dell M20 laptop too, bought 1 1/2 years ago, never noticed anything wrong, until this recent fiasco about Banding that I checked my M20...and sure enough there is the same problem. SInce it is still under warranty, I am going after them as well, will update you guys later.
